Being Perceived in Improv... and community jams! - #54

Newsletter #54: Community jams are TOMORROW so check inside for where to sign up with their hosts!

Gradient text that reads hello improvisers!

Greetings improv friends!

It’s the 54th improv Update newsletter formerly known as Flat Improv, coming at you from ImprovUpdate.com. Exciting. Confusing. Exciting.

So we’re heading into that space of time where the days are really short in the northern hemisphere and the nights are really long. Great for making digital content in!

Well I guess that’s how I roll. I’m busy at work and have finished some really strange new audio/video content that involves animation, music, and acting. Ooooh good grief, I bet some of you are thinking based on my last (discount) personal project :)

On to the reason you’re really here: improv stuff.

Oh wait. On that note. Did anyone notice I put a cool song at the end? It’s because I love.

In this week's newsletter you will find:

  • Improv resource about being more inclusive in improv spaces

  • Improv jams from the online improv community

  • Comedy Livestreams to check out.

Improv resources & shows

More thoughts on being perceived from the Neurodiversity in Improv newsletter contains an article about making comedy and improv spaces more inclusive by considering issues around being perceived when asking questions and seeking help in practices and classes especially. Find the free article here.

Fact or Word of the Week

As per usual, here's yet another fact or word of the week…. this week we have a fact.

FACT: On Dec 6, 1917 two ships collided in Halifax harbour. A fire ignited, and about 20 minutes later reached explosives that were being carried on one of the ships. This accident caused a massive explosion, now called the Halifax Explosion, which caused 2000 deaths, 6000 injuries and destroyed many homes.
